Colour by Numbers

In Stockholm, you can use your phone to control a light sculpture. It is pretty cool that you can alter the cityscape by dialing your phone.

Colour by numbers is a 72 meters high light installation at Telefonplan in Stockholm. “A tower stands at Telefonplan. Austere, slim and dark; rising towards the sky like an exclamation mark. A tower is an archetypical creator of place: it breaks in and becomes an event in a continuous landscape. This characteristic is emphasized by the illuminated windows of this particular tower – but the patterns and colours also vary constantly. The tower speaks in a sign language composed of light. But what is the tower at Telefonplan saying, and who gives the architectonic form meaning?”. On the website under live video you can see a live video image of the tower and also read instructions for how to control the light installation over the phone.

Miniature Fast Food

Okay, these folks have a lot of spare time on their hands, and also, they have a tiny tray of fast food on their hands as well… takes portion control to a whole new level. What is even crazier, is that they cut the burger in half and shared it between them after the photo shoot was over.

Bluejacking – Unsolicited Bluetooth Messages

There is a project underway to raise awareness of the ways in which our activities and habits can be tracked. The art project is known as Location Oriented Critical Arts, or

Loca is grass-roots, pervasive surveillance. A person walking through the city centre hears a beep on their phone and glances at the screen. Instead of an SMS alert they see a message reading: We are currently experiencing difficulties monitoring your position: please wave you network device in the air.

Loca is an exercise in everyday surveillance, tracking digital objects in physical space. What happens when it is easy for everyone to track everyone, when surveillance can be affected by consumer level technology within peer-to-peer networks without being routed through a central point?

Cool or creepy? I guess since it is under the guise of ‘art’ it may mean to be both… What next? A strap-on?

Black Light Tattoos

So for those who must have a tattoo, but don’t want to actually see them in natural light, there is an option… it is called a black light tattoo.

Tattoo artist Richie, who lives and works in Colorado, has been offering UV blacklight reactive ink to his clients for most of his 4-year career. “Three and a half years ago, I was asked by a friend about the UV ink,” Richie says. “So I did a little research and got a sample of the ink and all the paperwork explaining how it was made and how safe it is. After trying a small sample on myself, I began to use the ink.”

Let me just add one more thing… tattoos are stupid… black light tattoos are even more stupid…
